Today, millions of people across the United States, and indeed those in parts of the world where National Selfie Day is now actually a thing, will be busy taking photos of themselves to celebrate the day. Last year, these pictures were what got people talking, including the selfie of Barack Obama’s daughters and “the first out of space selfie”.
The National Selfie Day was officially launched in Arlington, Texas, on 21 June 2014, with one purpose in mind: that is to encourage ‘the world to experience’, and ‘take selfies in their own creative way’. Each year people from all walks of life try to do just that on the Day.
Equally, some brands are like McDonald’s are also taking advantage of the Day, by joining in the fun, offering quirky freebies as a creative way to engage with their customers and fans.
Love it or loathe it, selfies – together with selfie sticks and our best duck faces – have become prevalent in our 21st-century social culture, as have camera phones… with the camera phone being the most essential gadget to mark the Day. But not all camera phones are created equal, and with loads to choose from and a plethora of conflicting reviews to sift through, it’s difficult to work out the best available camera phone on the market.
So rather than looking at one individual review of the best camera phones for 2018 offered by one industry expert or critic, we have put together a comparative list below, of the top five results listed by four of the most trusted reviewers in the industry – Cnet, TechRadar, The Telegraph, and Digital Trends.
Although the verdicts are far from being unanimous, the Samsung Galaxy 9 range seems to be leading the way, followed by Huawei P20 Pro, with Google Pixel 2 XL and Apple iPhone X almost at par.
