Uber Launches Gift Cards in Thousands of Retail Outlets - Dispatch Weekly

September 27, 2016 - Reading time: ~1 minute

Uber has started selling gift cards in thousands of retail outlets including Target, Walmart and CVS, expanding to around 35,000 locations across the US in the coming weeks.

The gift cards can also be redeemed by going onto the payments section of the app and clicking on the Add Promo/ Gift Code tab, entering the code.

You can add $15 to $500 onto the gift card, but this only includes riding the taxi service and cannot be used at the UberEats of UberRush services.

You can add the gift card to your account where it automatically becomes the preferred payment option. You can also manually reconfigure this in the Payment section.

Gift cards offer a clever solution to those who have not downloaded the app since they will be encouraged to do so once they have received the gift.

Uber will soon be offering a company gift card program where employees get a bonus in the form of gift cards or help with cutting the cost of commuting to and from work.
